About

Pakistan's deep-sea port city on the Arabian Sea coast, rapidly transforming into a major economic hub under CPEC. Set on a hammerhead-shaped peninsula flanked by golden beaches and dramatic cliffs, Gwadar offers turquoise water, fresh seafood, and sweeping ocean views unlike anywhere else in Pakistan.

History

Gwadar was historically a fishing village controlled by the Sultanate of Oman from 1783 until 1958, when Pakistan purchased it for £3 million. Its strategic location at the mouth of the Persian Gulf was recognised early — the British surveyed it in the 19th century, and China's investment in the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor has transformed it into one of the most significant ports in Asia.
