About

A remote hilltop village in Neelum Valley, perched on a ridge above Kel and accessible only by chairlift followed by a steep one-hour hike. Surrounded by dense cedar forest with sweeping views down the Neelum Valley, it is widely regarded as one of Azad Kashmir's most beautiful destinations.

History

Arang Kel was for decades accessible only on foot via a mountain trail from Kel, keeping it isolated and its traditional wooden architecture largely intact. The installation of a chairlift in the 2010s opened it to day-trippers while overnight guesthouses began appearing shortly after.
