About

A hidden paradise valley enclosed by the Pir Panjal range, accessible only via a dramatic series of switchbacks over the Reshian Pass. Known for its apple orchards, rice paddies, traditional wooden Kashmiri architecture, and a pace of life untouched by modern development.

History

Leepa was part of the former princely state of Kashmir and fell under Azad Kashmir administration after 1947. Its geographic isolation — the only road crosses a pass that closes with snow from November to April — preserved both its traditional architecture and its distinctive Kashmiri dialect long after surrounding areas modernised.
