About

A forested ridge above Muzaffarabad at 2,743m, reached by a winding road through oak and rhododendron forest. On clear days the panoramic view takes in the Jhelum and Neelum valley systems, the Pir Panjal range, and distant Himalayan snowfields.

History

The site is named after a Pir (Sufi saint) whose shrine occupies the summit ridge and draws pilgrims from across AJK. The forest around Pir Chinasi is protected under AJK's forest department and is one of the few remaining intact oak forests in the region.
