About

A densely forested valley of pine and spruce above Gilgit, home to Pakistan's only ski resort and a trio of uniquely coloured high-altitude lakes. Accessible by a steep jeep track from Nomal on the Karakoram Highway.

History

Naltar has been a Pakistan Air Force recreation and training area for decades, which accounts for the well-maintained roads and facilities relative to its remoteness. The ski resort hosts Pakistan's national skiing championships.
