About

The highest and most atmospheric hill station in the Galyat range, sitting at 2,509m amid dense cedar, oak, and rhododendron forests. Nathiagali's narrow main bazaar, colonial bungalows, and cool mist-laden air make it a perennial favourite for families and city-dwellers escaping the summer heat of the plains.

History

Nathiagali was developed as a summer retreat during British rule, serving as one of the hill stations of the Punjab Lieutenant-Governor. The colonial bungalows, churches, and the distinctive Murree Brewery rest house survive from that era. Governor's House Nathiagali — a grand colonial mansion on the ridge — remains the official summer residence of the KPK governor. The town sits on a spine of the Galyat ridge connecting to Ayubia and Dungagali, historically a route used by traders and timber cutters between Abbottabad and the Hazara plateau.
