About

A remote and historically rich valley in Ghizer district, stretching north toward the Darkot and Thui passes to Chitral. Renowned for its polo-playing culture, ancient forts, and some of the friendliest communities in the whole of Gilgit-Baltistan.

History

Yasin was for centuries an independent principality whose rulers played Chinese, British, and Afghan powers against each other during the Great Game. The 1892 Battle of Nilt in the nearby Hunza region affected Yasin's political allegiance. Today the valley retains a strong sense of distinct identity within GB.
